Job summary

Bowhead is seeking a Machinist (Engineering Technician II) to support NSWCDD Dahlgren Division in Virginia. The role involves programming and operating CNC lathes and mills, ensuring parts meet DoD drawings and tight tolerances, and using calipers/micrometers for inspection. Training on SolidWorks and CAMWorks is available.

Beginner/intermediate level; 3+ years of experience preferred; company provides tools and benefits including paid time off, retirement matching, and tuition/training support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least 1 year of experience operating CNC milling machines and lathes.
• Able to draw and/or program using CAD/CAM software.
• Basic MS Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Proficient in reading machinist drawings.
• Able to use dial calipers and micrometers for inspection.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; English proficiency.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC lathes/mills; set tools and create fixtures.
• Work with Haas/Fadal/ProtoTrak equipment daily.
• Adhere to DoD drawings and maintain tight tolerances.
• Inspect parts with dial calipers and micrometers; document results.
