Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is hiring CNC Machinists across multiple CT locations. Positions involve operating 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling, turning, and grinding equipment, often in cells, with the ability to run several machines simultaneously.

You will machine hard metals like Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel, set up offsets, read blueprints, and verify parts with precision gauges. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and live within commutable distance to East Hartford or East

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Live within a commutable distance to East Hartford, CT or East Granby, CT.
• Experience setting up and changing over jobs on CNC equipment.
• Ability to read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Proficiency in mathematics and calculator use.
• Experience making offsets at the machine.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and CNC programs.
• Experience setting up and using machining tools and fixtures.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
• Familiarity with right angle head operations
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to work within tight tolerances (thousandths of an inch)

Responsibilities

• Operate 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC milling, turning and/or grinding machines
• Run multiple machines simultaneously, as most equipment is part of manufacturing cells or machining centers
• Machine hard metals such as Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel
• Load parts and fixtures using hoists and safely position workpieces in machines
• Make program required offsets and adjustments using Fanuc controls
• Read and interpret blueprints and CNC programs at the machine
• Set up tools using tool sheets and ensure proper configuration
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications
