MANUFACTURING LEAD

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Lead is the most senior skilled production staff member in the department, responsible for overseeing employees' work operations within the department or unit. This role requires extensive experience in all production functions, including machine setup, process planning, layouts, machining, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

The position involves performing activities related to NC or CNC machine operation, developmental or precision machining, troubleshooting, training, and coordinating team activities. The Lead is identified based on the highest level of work performed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Supervise and instruct workers, teaching and demonstrating work and machine operations.
• Perform all tasks of workers in the group, including machine setup, trial runs, and operation.
• Understand and utilize machine programming and computer-aided machining, including safety, cleanliness, and equipment care.
• Plan machining operations, set up machines, and perform developmental machining work.
• Troubleshoot machine and process issues, recommend corrective actions, and perform repairs as needed.
• Train employees in machining techniques and safety practices.
• Use precision measuring instruments and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to inspect work and solve problems.
• Select and adapt tooling and equipment for complex or nonstandard parts.
• Coordinate workflow, quality control, and overall scheduling within the cell group.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Motivate workers, suggest improvements, and participate in personnel decisions.
• Collaborate with design engineers on technical issues.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Annual certification in safe machine operation, hazardous materials handling, quality assurance, and SPC. Advanced SPC, problem solving, and leadership training are required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• One-year college or technical school certificate plus ten years of related experience, or equivalent experience and education.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Proficiency in mathematics, problem-solving, and manufacturing software.
