Job Description

Position Summary:

Level Two: Building upon level one, level two machinists operate 3-5 axis CNC machines with minimal assistance. Responsibilities include basic machine setup, preparing fixtures and cutting tools, loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets. They should have competency in using advanced quality inspection tools such as height and air gauges, and perform part buy-offs. Basic knowledge of CNC G and M codes is required. Typically, 2-4 years of experience is expected.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform basic setup operations including fixtures, cutting tools, and CNC programs.
• Maintain product quality by monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets.
• Conduct inspection tasks using drawings and advanced inspection tools.
• Validate programs and first part runs on existing products.
• Use production tracking tools like Avante or E1 to log time and claim parts.
• Perform SPC as needed.

Required Skills:

• Ability to load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance.
• Knowledge of G and M codes for setting and adjusting CNC programs.
• Shop math skills including tool geometry and basic geometry.
• Ability to read basic prints and apply dimensional specifications.
• DAP training.

Required Experience:

• Evidence of successful level one machining duties for at least one year prior to promotion or hire.
• 2-4 years of experience.

Level of Education:

• GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
