Job summary

KLA Industries in New Britain, CT is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist with at least five years of setup experience to independently set up and operate Nakamura CNC lathes.

You will read blueprints, select tooling, set feeds and speeds, perform first-piece and in-process inspections, and train operators in the lathe department while maintaining 5S and a safe work area.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated CNC lathe setup and operating experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of Lean Enterprise principles and tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, including Nakamura machines.
• Work independently from blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
• Select, change, and set all required tooling.
• Determine and adjust appropriate feeds and speeds.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
• Properly use and understand measuring and gauging equipment.
• Ensure the quality of all products produced on assigned machines.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues.
• Train and monitor operators within the department.
• Perform required 5S activities and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Conduct line walks in the lathe area as directed by the supervisor.
• Follow all company safety policies and promptly report unsafe conditions or practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
