Job summary

Rivian is seeking a CNC Machinist II in California to program, set up, and run 3- to 5-axis Mills and 2-axis Lathes (Haas). You will analyze designs, optimize toolpaths, and collaborate with engineering to ensure quality and efficiency on Aluminum and Steel parts.

You will use Fusion 360 CAM and work with 3- to 5-axis machines, including VF4 with Trunnion and TL-2, while maintaining safety and lean manufacturing practices in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating 3- to 5-axis CNC Mills and Lathes with Haas Controls.
• Hands-on experience with Fusion 360 to create toolpaths and modify designs.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and perform GD&T inspections with tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Review manufacturing tickets to determine material, tooling, and fixturing requirements.
• Prioritize machining requests to meet deadlines and maximize machine uptime.
• Collaborate with engineers to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback and modify CAD designs.
• Summarize part requirements, apply roughing toolpaths, and manage cycle times while finishing toolpaths.
• Program parts using Fusion 360 CAM Software.
• Operate Haas mill and lathe (VF4 with Trunnion, TL-2).
• Understand speeds/feeds, depth of cuts and other cutting parameters for Aluminum and Steel.
• Perform inspection tasks to ensure part conforms to required dimensions using GD&T and drawings.
• Machine maintenance including monitor filters, oil/grease levels, calibration and adjustments.
