L.A. Turbine is a design and manufacturing company creating application-specific, highly engineered turboexpanders used in hydrocarbon processing, geothermal power generation, and other power-recovery or refrigeration applications worldwide. Expert field service, repair, and spare parts are available for all types of turboexpanders.

The company’s operation is vertically integrated with broad engineering expertise, multi-axial CNC machining, mechanical assembly, PLC and electrical assembly, metal fabrication, and testing facilities including resonance, balancing, pressure, performance, and mechanical run tests.

Position Summary: Under limited supervision, responsible for fabricating prototype and short-run parts on CNC Haas lathes, with knowledge of lathe live tooling a plus. Good organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be:

1. Produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines; maintain quality and safety standards; keep records; and maintain equipment and supplies.
2. Possess knowledge of machining technology, principles, and high-level skills and techniques.
3. Determine cutting tools, methods of holding, and machine speeds and feeds for various materials such as stainless steels, aluminum, brass, and micarta.
4. Maintain specifications by observing machining processes, taking measurements, troubleshooting, adjusting controls, and adhering to quality assurance procedures.
5. Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work preparation.
6. Perform setups, tool changes, reset tool offsets, and edit minor CNC programs as needed.
7. Coordinate with CNC programmers to ensure programs and machinery function correctly and meet specifications.
8. Report major discrepancies to the Lead or Supervisor.
9. Study samples, drawings, and engineering info to determine methods, sequences, dimensions, and tolerances.
10. Interpret programs to determine sequence and setup requirements under supervision.
11. Dismantle setups and return tools and fixtures after manufacturing runs.
12. Read blueprints to determine setup procedures and modifications for precision grinding machines.
13. Use precision measuring equipment to inspect own work and ensure compliance with features; perform deburring and cleaning as required.
14. Hold tight tolerances on machined parts.
15. Perform general and preventive maintenance on equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and organizing work areas (5S).
16. Follow safety practices when using machines.

Your Education Should Be:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require:

Must meet physical demands such as standing, walking, handling, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Environmental conditions may include heat, cold, noise, oils, moving parts, chemicals, and electrical hazards.

Your Professional Experience Should Be:

• Minimum 5 years in a machine shop or equivalent.
• Familiar with ISO 9001 standards.
• Positive attitude, good communication skills.
• Knowledge of G Codes and M Codes.
• At least 2 years CNC Lathe experience; setup skills are a plus.
