Job description

Come join our team here in Simi Valley, California.

Expected Salary:

$25.00 to $31.00 per hour

Brief Description

The CNC mill machinist is responsible for producing work efficiently while meeting drawing and planning specifications and requirements.

Under general supervision, sets up, operates, and adjusts CNC mill machines. Reads and interprets drawings and CNC programs, makes offsets if necessary, and has knowledge of various metals and measurement techniques used in machining.

May assist and train less experienced machinists.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Completes setups with general supervision/assistance.
  2. Responsible for all phases of part operation setup to achieve first article acceptance.
  3. Performs and maintains accurate in-process quality inspections and records.
  4. Identifies and recommends process improvements to reduce part quality variation.
  5. Continuously improves processes, procedures, and eliminates waste.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience and Capabilities

  • At least five (5) years of experience in operation setup on CNC Mill equipment.
  • Skilled in the use of indicators, gauges, dial bore gauges, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
  • Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0005") of IDs, profile, and roundness.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and insert tool life for aerospace machining.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprints and quality requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with employees and management.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., with assistance for heavier weights.
  • Experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma is preferred.
