Job description

CNC HAAS Machinist / Programmer
Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC HAAS Machinist / Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This is a 1st shift position and the starting pay range will depend on experience, education, and training ($30.00 - $35.00/hr.). In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of precision component production, from interpreting initial concepts and generating 3D models to setting up and operating HAAS CNC mills and lathes. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between digital design and physical manufacturing, ensuring high-quality, close-tolerance parts.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Modify 3D Models
  • Create accurate 3D CAD models from 2D blueprints, engineering sketches, or physical proto@type parts.
  • Modify existing 3D geometries to optimize parts for efficient CNC machining and workholding configurations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to review design for manufacturability (DFM) and resolve structural or dimensional discrepancies.
Program and Simulate Toolpaths
  • Generate precise CNC programs utilizing CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidCAM) directly from 3D models.
  • Select optimal tooling, feed rates, spindle speeds, and cutting depths based on material specifications (e.g., aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics).
  • Run virtual CAM simulations to verify toolpaths, estimate cycle times, and eliminate potential machine collisions before posting code.
Set Up and Operate HAAS CNC Machines
  • Configure HAAS multi-axis mills and lathes by loading programs, installing fixtures, aligning vices, and setting tool offsets.
  • Execute first-article production runs and prove out new programs safely at the machine control console.
  • Monitor machining cycles and adjust machine variables (offsets, overrides) to maintain part consistency and surface finish quality.
Maintain Quality and Equipment
  • Inspect finished parts against engineering drawings using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on HAAS machinery, such as checking fluid levels, clearing chips, and wiping down ways.
  • Document program changes and maintain a clean, organized digital library of proven 3D models and G-code files.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years operating and programming HAAS CNC machining centers.
  • CAD/CAM Proficiency: Hands‑on experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, Inventor, or equivalent) and CAM software.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in reading blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and manual G‑code editing.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certifications in CNC machining/advanced manufacturing is a plus.
