Job Overview

Responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines according to detailed specifications. Ensures proper maintenance and use of measurement tools for inspecting components. The role may require working at different Thorlabs locations, primarily in Newton, NJ.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Set up and operate CNC equipment such as milling and turning machines.
  2. Fabricate precision tools and fixtures with tight tolerances.
  3. Read blueprints and understand geometric tolerances.
  4. Program and operate machines effectively.
  5. Understand material properties and machining requirements.
  6. Inspect finished work for conformance to specifications.
  7. Complete tasks to ensure timely delivery.
  8. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machines.
  9. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain quality and quantity standards.
  • Follow company policies and workplace behavior standards.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 15 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; CNC certification a plus.
  • Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls, and knowledge of G codes/M codes.
  • Familiarity with DNC systems and setup time reduction techniques.
  • Strong work ethic and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles is advantageous.
