Job summary

MET-CON, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator in Florida to run CNC equipment for cutting, drilling, and marking structural steel. This full-time role offers pay of $25–$27 per hour, plus a $3 shift differential, and requires overtime as needed.

The shift is Monday–Friday, 3:30 p.m.–2 a.m. You will read blueprints, measure to spec, operate overhead cranes, and perform basic maintenance in a safety-driven shop.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator.
• Experience operating a CNC plasma table, or experience with sawing, drilling, or cutting operations, is required.
• Experience with one or more of the following: Kinetic plasma table, Peddinghaus saw/drill line, Peddinghaus Angle Master, or Ficep beamline.
• Must have experience operating overhead cranes.
• Experience with detailed part marking.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, symbols, and notes is preferred.
• Must be able to read a tape measure to within 1/16".
• Basic math skills are required.
• Tekla PowerFab experience preferred.
• Works in compliance with MET-CON's safety policies and procedures.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with co-workers, clients, and supervisors.
• Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be flexible to work any schedule needed, including overtime and Saturdays.
• Ability to tolerate hot and cold working environments.

Responsibilities

• Choose material type, stock size, and dimensions for each job.
• Measure materials to design specs.
• Transfer data and part marks onto materials.
• Operate overhead cranes and transfer system to load/unload machines.
• Record daily operations and material usage.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues.
• Keep a clean, safe work area.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Perform additional duties and overtime as required.

Daily Responsibilities

• Select correct machine settings for optimal operations.
• Select the correct material type, stock size, and dimensions for each job.
• Measure materials to assure conformance with design specifications.
• Transfer appropriate data and part marks onto materials.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and the material transfer/conveyor system to load and unload machines.
• Keep an accurate record of daily operations and material usage.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and assist in troubleshooting any machine issues.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Perform additional machine operating duties and work overtime as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to manually lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift and maneuver materials and tools as required, with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
• Comfortable working in an industrial fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to safely use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
