Job summary

Thyssenkrupp Materials NA, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist in Auburn Hills, MI for 2nd shift (Mon–Fri, 2:30pm–11:00pm). You will set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, routers, and waterjets to fabricate parts per engineering drawings and customer specs.

You will inspect parts with precision tools, adjust offsets, troubleshoot minor issues, and maintain a clean, safe work area while documenting production steps. Strong attention to detail and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Operate CNC lathes, mills, routers and related equipment safely.
• Perform in-process inspections with precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and adjust offsets.
• Maintain clean, organized and safe work area following 6S.
• Collaborate with supervisors, programmers and QC staff.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines per specifications.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, verniers and CMM when required.
• Adjust tool offsets and respond to tool wear or machine faults.
• Monitor operation for abnormal sounds or vibrations and take action.
• Load/unload material, ensure proper handling and traceability.
• Maintain production paperwork and record measurements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and training.

Job SummaryThe CNC Machinist is responsible to set up and operate various CNC machines (lathes, mills, routers, etc.) to fabricate parts according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.Job Description2nd Shift Monday through Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm$24-$28 per hourKey Accountabilities:Work with Routers, Waterjets, CNC Mills and LathesPerform (in progress) inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, verniers, height gauges, optical comparators, co-ordinate measuring machines /CMMs, etc.) to verify dimensional accuracy and quality.Adjust machine offsets, change tools, and troubleshoot minor machine issues to maintain optimal output and quality.Monitor machine operation for unusual sounds, vibrations, or other indicators of potential problems, and take corrective action as needed.Perform routine start of shift preventive maintenance.Load and unload raw materials and finished parts, ensuring proper handling, storage, and traceability.Always maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety and 6S policies and procedures.Complete production paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Verify that material meets work order specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).Collaborate with supervisors, programmers, and quality control personnel to resolve production issues and improve processes.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.Other duties as needed by management.This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.Meets TKMNA Employee Attributes / CompetenciesThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirement for the performance of this job.
