We are currently seeking two CNC Machinists (Level 2) to join our team at the Beltsville, MD facility on 2nd Shift. This role involves the setup and operation of various CNC and manual machines to produce precision components that meet exacting standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC and manual machines including lathes, mills, shapers, planers, and grinders.
Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements.
Plan sequence of operations and determine number of cuts and appropriate setup.
Perform standard shop computations for dimensions, feeds, and speeds.
Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments for quality control.
Lay out stock for machining using measurements and reference markings.
Assemble precision parts and determine materials and tools needed for tasks.
Monitor machine operations and perform quality checks according to statistical process control or established procedures.
Some work may involve numerically controlled (NC) machines.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Hands-on experience operating CNC machines in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Solid understanding of machining processes, materials, and shop math.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in writing and editing CNC programs.
Familiarity with Wire EDM machining.
Understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
