Job summary

Jobot, a Warren, MI-based precision manufacturing company, seeks an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills, producing precision components in a true custom machining environment.

You will read blueprints, select tooling, perform setups, and inspect parts for tight tolerances, contributing to quality and productivity in a stable, growth-oriented shop.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC lathes and milling machines in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tight tolerances, with calibration/inspection skills.

This is a true custom machining environment producing precision components from bar stock for customers across industries including hydraulics, pneumatics, medical equipment, and industrial manufacturing.

Production can range from small custom batches to higher-volume runs, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable with variety, takes ownership of their setups, and understands how to produce quality parts consistently.

What You'll Do

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision machined components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and production orders.
• Select proper tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machine settings based on job requirements.
• Perform machine setups, tooling changes, offsets, and adjustments.
• Inspect finished and in-process parts to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
• Utilize micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators, and other precision inspection equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
• Optimize setups and machining processes to improve efficiency and repeatability.
• Document inspection results and production information as required.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Work closely with quality, supervisors, and other machinists to keep jobs on schedule.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a CNC Machinist in a precision manufacturing or job shop environment.
• Strong CNC lathe experience; CNC milling experience is also valuable.
• Ability to independently set up and operate CNC equipment.
• Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tight‑tolerance machining.
• Experience selecting tooling and making machine offsets and adjustments.
• Strong understanding of precision measurement and inspection methods.
• Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues.
• Experience working with different materials and varying production quantities.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
