Job summary

Belcan in Paris, IL is seeking a Machining Technician to set up and operate CNC and manual metal fabrication equipment in accordance with specifications, routers, and quality standards. The role reports to the manufacturing team on the shop floor.

Starting ASAP, you will train on 1st shift before moving to 2nd shift, with a $22–$35 per hour pay range plus a $3 per hour shift differential for eligible hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of college or technical school or 3 years of machining experience preferred.
• Ability to read routers, blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces on machines.
• Set up and operate CNC machines and centers for cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, and related ops.
• Follow routers and work instructions to perform machined operations.
• Load control media and retrieve programmed instructions from machine controller.
• Calculate and set spindle positioning, depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
• Select, install, and maintain cutting tools.
• Monitor machine operation for safety and efficiency.
• Adjust controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Measure and verify parts against blueprints and specs using appropriate tools.
• Perform housekeeping and apply 6S in work areas.
• Wear PPE and follow all safety rules and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Machining Technician is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual metal fabrication equipment to machine a variety of materials in accordance with specifications, routers, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces on machines.
• Set up and operate CNC machines and machining centers to perform cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and related operations.
• Perform machining operations as specified on routers and work instructions.
• Load control media and retrieve programmed instructions from the machine controller.
• Calculate and set machine controls including spindle positioning, cutting depth, speed, feed rate, and coolant flow.
• Select, install, and maintain cutting tools.
• Monitor machine operation to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Measure and verify parts meet blueprint, sketch, and specification requirements using appropriate measurement tools.
• Clean machines and tooling after use.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and apply 6S principles in work areas.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow all quality systems, operating procedures, safety rules, and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of college or technical school or three years of related machining experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and cognitive skills.
• Ability to read and understand routers, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
• Good problem-solving, judgment, and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Primary work location: Manufacturing floor.
• Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling/crouching, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
• Exposure to noise.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
