Job summary

Dover Precision Components is looking for experienced machinists in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Candidates must possess excellent mechanical and shop math skills, able to operate various machine tools and read blueprints.

The position offers a starting pay of $26–$28 per hour, plus bonuses and benefits including a 401(k) savings plan, medical insurance, and paid time off. Advancement opportunities include raises every 6 months to a top rate of $35 per hour.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints with ease.
• Select the proper tools and perform machine set ups to obtain very close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
• Inspect first pieces of a run, work-in-progress parts and final completed parts using a wide variety of measuring devices to ensure quality standards.
• Utilize Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print.
• Operate fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes (mostly on Mazak and HAAS equipment).
• Ensure proper machine set up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to material; detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.

Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent mechanical skills.
• Good shop math skills.
• Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
• Ability to read blueprints and plans to apply to set up and process.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or other formal training in related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of shop experience or equivalent trade school apprenticeship.
• Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to perform the job.

Compensation & Bonus

Our 2nd shift machinists start at $26–$28 depending on skill and experience, plus $1.50 shift differential and $1.00 raises each 6 months to a top‑out pay of over $35 per hour. The position is eligible to earn a quarterly bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan, with a quarterly performance bonus of up to $750.
