Job summary

Alloy Precision Technologies is hiring for a 2nd shift machinist operator to produce machine parts to specifications. You will keep several machines running, load parts, verify proper tooling, and perform routine maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

Prior experience with calipers, micrometers, GD&T, and CMM is preferred, with attention to quality and safety. Applicants should have 12 to 18 months machining experience and the ability to read blueprints, measure tolerances, and work overtime

Qualifications

• Reading simple blueprints and interpreting tolerances.
• Experience with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and go/no-go gauges.
• Familiarity with CMM dimensional inspection and GD&T symbols.

Responsibilities

• Keep multiple machines running as assigned and produce quality parts.
• Verify parts are loaded correctly and surfaces prepared for machining.
• Check machine settings, tooling, and fixtures for each part.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and load/unload parts.
• Record time and quantity in ERP system and assist with SPC as needed.
• May perform first-piece approvals and basic hand deburring.

Perform other production tasks as directed. Assist in achieving Alloy Precision Technologies’ (APT) priorities of safety, quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in a fast-paced environment. ¨NBSP;ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESKeep multiple machines running as assigned. Produce quality products quickly and efficiently. Exhibit an understanding of the importance of quality. Verify that parts are correctly loaded and that surfaces are properly prepared for machining. Confirm machine settings, tooling, and/or fixtures are appropriate to the part being run.Perform all of the tasks associated with tending the machine, such as loading and unloading, changing filters, checking and maintaining fluid levels.Perform routine machine maintenance.Ability to change work and tooling offsets and to understand cutter compensation to make a quality part.Verify conformance of finished workpiece.Read blueprints and utilize a majority of measuring instruments (CMM’s, calipers, micrometers, comparators) to ensure parts are machined according to specifications and within tolerance levels.May perform CMM dimensional inspection, using a basic understanding of GD&T symbols. May apply principles of Statistic Process Controls (SPC) to make accurate and timely machine and tool adjustments.Ability to perform first-piece approvals on simpler, less complex parts.Keep alert to the schedule and work priorities. Anticipate job changes and use time efficiently to prepare tools and gauges.May perform hand deburring, grinding, assembly, and welding operations on the uncomplicated product.Report time and quantity accurately in the ERP system.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Reading, comprehension, problem solving, and math skills that normally are associated with completion of High School or GED.A minimum of 12 to 18 months of prior machining experience.Experience in calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and go/no-go gauges.Experience in reading simple blueprints.Rate of pay will be based on experience levelADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:A high degree of hand-eye coordination.Mobility to bend and lift, loading and unloading workpieces into the machine and move from one workstation to another, alternately sitting and standing.Lift objects up to 25 pounds throughout the day.Ability to work overtime if needed.Ability to read fine print and distinguish colors.Ability to reach machine controls five feet above the floor.Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment.
