Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist in Duncan, SC to set up and operate multiple CNC machines in a low-volume, high-mix environment. You will ensure precision, quality, safety, and productivity while interpreting complex blueprints and controlling tool wear.

You will work with Renishaw probing and CMM devices, perform first-article inspections, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen and SMED. High attention to detail and math skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience.
• Ability to interpret and edit CNC programs.
• Experience navigating FANUC controls.
• Knowledge of GD&T symbols and inspection methods.
• Understanding of shop math, trigonometry, and the Pythagorean theorem.
• Ability to read complex engineering blueprints, tool prints, and sketches.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiple CNC machine tools.
• Complete machining processes from initial setup through finished production.
• Edit CNC programs and adjust wear and geometry offsets.
• Use Renishaw probing systems.
• Set up and operate coordinate measuring machines.
• Inspect finished parts using gauges and engineering blueprints.
• Complete first-article inspections and documentation.
• Enter SPC data and adjust machining processes based on results.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production concerns.
• Perform scheduled equipment inspections.
• Maintain daily 5S standards.
• Support Kaizen, SMED, fixture design, and other continuous improvement activities.

CNC Machinist
Location: Duncan, SC
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour + $1.25 shift differential
$1,000 Sign on Bonus, paid out after 90 days of employment
Schedules Available:

• 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM-7:30 AM
• Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM-5:00 PM (paid for 40 hours)
