Job summary

Fives North American Combustion, Inc. is seeking a permanent, full-time CNC Machinist to join our team in Cuyahoga Heights, OH.

The role involves setting up and operating CNC equipment with Fanuc controls, reading blueprints, and performing precision measurements to ensure quality. Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of CNC experience, background in castings (iron castings preferred), and either an associate degree or equivalent training/experience.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years CNC operating/setup experience.
• Background of machining castings preferred.
• Lathe and milling experience preferred.
• Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Associate degree from a 2-year college or technical school or 2-3 years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC equipment with Fanuc controls.
• Follow work instructions, maintain specifications, observe milling, turning, drilling, tapping, grooving and cutting, take measurements, troubleshoot, adjust controls, replace worn tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Read blueprints and inspect parts; check accuracy against blueprints.
• Read micrometers, calipers, OD measurements, tool pre-setting/comparators, dial bore gauges and set tooling offsets; manage speeds and feeds.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and comply with safety regulations.

Your role will be:

• Ability to set up and run CNC equipment utilizing Fanuc controls.
• Ability to follow work instructions by maintaining specifications, by observing milling, turning, drilling, tapping, grooving and cutting operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Ability to read blueprints and inspect parts. Check accuracy of work against blueprints.
• Ability to read mics, calipers, OD’s, tool pre‑setting/comparators, dial bore gauges and make proper tooling offsets in the machine tool, as well as proper speeds & feeds.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

• 3-5 years of CNC Machine operating/set‑up experience.
• Background of machining of castings, iron castings preferred.
• Previous lathe and milling experience preferred.
• Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Associate degree from a 2-year college or technical school.
• Or 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education & experience.
