Job summary

Fike Corporation in Blue Springs, MO is seeking a Machinist 1 to perform routine tasks including cleaning machines, deburring parts, and operating NC/CNC equipment. The role requires forklift certification within 6 months and adherence to safety and ISO9001 standards.

You will handle material delivery, setup on machines, and in-process inspections, while maintaining a clean work area and accurate documentation in our systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and basic math and reading skills.
• 6+ months of Vo-Tech, manufacturing, or mechanical exposure.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders, and engineered drawings.
• Exposure to using hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and gauges).
• Basic mathematical and computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform Trainee duties.

Responsibilities

• Operates saws and delivers material to operators as needed.
• Operates lift devices (chain hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts).
• Keeps the material area clean and provides assistance with cycle count needs.
• Conducts in-process inspection.
• Prepares/enters/completes work order reporting, transactions, documentation, and non-conformances in applicable software and computer systems.
• Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.
• Must be able to pass the forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.
• Performs set up on at least one machine.
• Able to set up and run 50% of the product on the primary machine.
• Able to observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.

Compensation:

$21.50-$23/ hour per hour and is based on the candidate's experience.

Job Summary:

Performs routine tasks which include cleaning machines, deburring parts, and saw operations. Operates other types of machinery such as numerical control (NC) and computer numerical control (CNC).

Work Environment:

The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Six plus months of Vo-Tech, manufacturing, or mechanical exposure experience. Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders and engineered drawings. Exposure to using hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and gauges). Basic mathematical and computer skills. Demonstrated ability to perform Trainee duties.
