Job summary

Fike Corporation in Blue Springs, MO is seeking a CNC Programmer/Machinist to create, modify, and optimize CNC programs, collaborating with engineering and production to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient machining aligned with ISO9001.

The role requires reading blueprints, setting speeds/feeds, verifying tooling, and providing shop-floor support; experience with Mastercam or similar is preferred, with strong problem-solving and records management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; ability to read, interpret instructions and drawings.
• Proficiency in shop mathematics and NC/CNC programming experience.
• Minimum 5+ years related experience, including 3+ years setup/run machining and 2 years NC/CNC programming.
• PREFERRED: JDEdwards, Mastercam, Cad Cam software experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify CNC programs per SPI, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Back up records for new/modified programs to designated drives.
• Study blueprints and specs to determine tolerances and set up requirements.
• Set controls for machining factors and input/edit machine programs.
• Work with Mastercam or equivalent for post-processing.
• Verify tooling and fixtures availability for programs.
• Collaborate with engineers and shop staff to resolve machining problems.
• Provide daily shop floor support and adhere to safety and ISO9001 requirements.

CNC Programmer

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a CNC Programmer. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure efficient and accurate machining operations, adherence to safety practices, and compliance with company policies and ISO9001 requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Creates new and modifies existing programs according to standard practice instructions (SPI).
• Backs up records to the P drive and R drive for new and modified programs according to standard practice instructions (SPI).
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Works with Mastercam or equivalent to work on post-processing.
• Verifies the availability of tooling and fixtures required by CNC programs.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Troubleshoots machining operations on the shop floor.
• Provides daily shop floor support as required by the Machine Shop Supervisor.
• Interacts with all areas of operations, material management, planning, engineering, tool and die, and quality assurance.
• Adheres to safety practices and procedures.
• Follows procedures as defined by Fike policies, procedures, and ISO9001 requirements.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED). Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders and engineered drawings. Ability to use shop mathematics. Five or more years of related experience, which includes at least three years as a fully operational set up and run machinist, two years of experience programming NC or CNC machinery.

PREFERRED: Exposure to JDEdwards systems. Master Cam Experience. Cad Cam software.

Compensation:

The pay range is $27.72- $36.05 per hour and is based on the candidate's experience.
