Job summary

Fike Corporation in Blue Springs, MO, is hiring a Fabricating Machine Operator Trainee for the 2nd shift. This entry role focuses on training and assisting seasoned operators, with duties across fabrication, paint and assembly under close supervision.

You will learn to prepare parts for paint, load the line, operate fabrication equipment, and help test products while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred: Mechanical exposure or Vo-Tech training.

Responsibilities

• Prepares parts for paint via washing or blasting.
• Loads and unloads paint line.
• Performs breakout and staging of laser cut parts.
• Operates fabrication equipment under the direction of trained operators.
• Work with Heavy Assembly building and testing products under supervision.
• Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
• Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.

Fabricating Machine Operator Trainee

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Fabricating Machine Operator Trainee, 2nd shift. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Entry role focused on training and assisting operators. Under close supervision, performs routine tasks in Fabrication, Paint and Assembly. Emphasis is on learning techniques. Must be able to perform minimum training requirements.

This position will work second shift Monday - Thursday, 3:15pm - 1:45am

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Prepares parts for paint via washing or blasting.
2. Loads and unloads paint line
3. Performs breakout and staging of laser cut parts.
4. Operates fabrication equipment under the direction of trained operators.
5. Work in conjunction with Heavy Assembly building and testing various products under the direction of trained operators.
6. Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
7. Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to operate foot control while standing on one leg.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and follow instructions, work orders, and engineered drawings. Must be able to obtain forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.

PREFERRED: Mechanical exposure or Vo-Tech training.
