The role involves operating CNC mills, lathes, and/or grinders to manufacture parts that meet customer specifications and production standards.

Job Duties

• Set up machines using general shop tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers) and precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, indicators) following detailed setup procedures.
• Operate machines to manufacture parts using fixtures, shuttles, clamps, and associated tooling to locate parts for machining.
• Complete required documentation (e.g., travelers, deviation tickets) with inspection information for parts run as required.
• Perform in-process and first-piece inspections using standard precision measuring equipment to ensure parts meet specifications outlined on operation sheets or blueprints.
• Maintain an accurate daily log of parts processed, significant dimensions, machining parameters, and general information pertaining to the operation performed.
• De-burr parts using hand tools, air grinders, and manual machine operation.
• Perform preventive and routine maintenance to maintain machine performance.
• Perform daily housekeeping tasks to provide a safe, clean, and orderly workplace.
• Perform related duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

Experience Requirements

• 1-2 years of prior shop experience.
• Experience operating, setting up, or programming CNC machine tools.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
• Strong attention to detail, mathematical ability, and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, or multi-axis equipment is preferred.
• Experience editing CNC programs, setting tooling offsets, and performing machine setups is beneficial.
• Familiarity with G-code, CAD/CAM software, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls is considered an asset.
• Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, continuous learning, and commitment to precision manufacturing are well positioned for success as a CNC Machinist.
• Prior aerospace industry experience.

Physical Capabilities

• Frequently required to stoop, climb, reach at or above shoulder level, and push or pull wheeled items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Occasionally required to squat, kneel, and lift up to 60 pounds independently or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Repetitive actions include simple grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulation.
• Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
