Job summary

Weir Minerals in Candler, FL is seeking a qualified CNC Machinist to operate and set up a range of machines, including CNC lathes and milling centers, to produce precision parts such as volutes, shells, liners and impellers. The role is on-site with an afternoon shift and offers overtime opportunities.

You will read complex blueprints, perform basic CNC edits, and help improve efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards. PPE is provided, and compensation is competitive.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of manual CNC machining experience.
  • Experience with die sharpening and tool changeovers.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up CNC lathes, mills, and machining centers to produce precision parts.
  • Prove up setups and produce pilot workpieces for inspection.
  • Troubleshoot machine/tool issues and perform minor CNC program edits as needed.
  • Follow safety practices and maintain equipment with proper maintenance.

You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.What you’ll doMachine Operations: Operate and set up various machines including drill press, engine lathe, turret lathe, CNC lathe, and machining centers to produce precision parts such as volutes, shells, liners and impellers.Daily tasks: include proving out setups, producing pilot workpieces for inspection, diagnosing machine or tooling malfunctions, and making corrective adjustments. Success means consistently producing high-quality parts with tight tolerances and maintaining efficient machine operation.Technical Understanding: Work from complex blueprints, part drawings, specifications, and setup instructions. Perform troubleshooting, minor CNC program edits, and efficiency improvements. The role involves manual milling and lathe machining with 200, 000-500,000 micrometers.Precision Handling: Manage multi-tooled arrangements with several operations requiring tight tolerances and critical dimensional relationships.
