You will set up tooling, apply offsets, and monitor toolpaths, ensuring parts meet print specifications. A strong background in VTLs and reading GD&T tolerances is highly valued, with overtime and weekend work possible

Qualifications

• CNC machining experience on large-format equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T tolerances.
• Experience with vertical turret lathes (VTL) is highly preferred.
• Able to set up tooling, adjust offsets, and monitor a job without constant programmer support.
• Night shift availability with potential overtime and weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC turning equipment to machine and refurbish heavy steel mill components to print specs.
• Set up tooling, load and run programs generated by the programming team.
• Make offset and feed/speed adjustments to maintain cut quality.
• Monitor work as it runs and inspect completed parts against drawings.

CNC Machinist - Afternoon/Night Shift | Ashland, KentuckyCompetitive Hourly Rate | Heavy Industrial Service Center**Overview **Mural is partnering with a global industrial equipment manufacturer to find a hands-on CNC Machinist for their Ashland, Kentucky service center. Our client repairs and refurbishes large-scale steel mill equipment - casting rolls, mill rolls, roll chocks, and heavy mechanical components - for steel producers across North America. The primary machine at this facility is a Vertical Turret Lathe with a 3-meter diameter capacity. This is a machinist's machinist role. You are running equipment every shift, not programming or planning.What you will be doingOperating CNC machining equipment - primarily large-format CNC turning - to machine and refurbish heavy steel mill components to print specifications. You will set up tooling, load and run programs generated by the facility's programming team, make offset and feed/speed adjustments, monitor cut quality, and inspect finished parts against engineering drawings. The programming team handles program generation; your job is to run the machine, understand what the program is doing, and catch issues before they become scrap.The scheduleThis is a night shift position. Standard shifts are 8 hours. When client production volume is high, shifts can extend to 12 hours and may include weekend work.
