Job summary
Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN seeks a Machinist Team Lead to guide setup, operation, and optimization of advanced CNC equipment in a high-mix, low-volume shop.
You will lead Mazak/DMG Mori multi-axis turn-mill centers and CNC lathes, support robot-integrated systems, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery in a state-of-the-art machine shop.
The role emphasizes hands-on coaching, adherence to GD&T and blueprints, and driving continuous improvement across production processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC shop experience.
- Experience with multi-axis turn-mill equipment.
- Able to read blueprints and apply GD&T standards.
- Knowledge of G-code programming and machining fundamentals.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Guide team members in setup and operation of Mazak and DMG Mori multi-axis turn-mill centers and CNC lathes.
- Support robot-integrated turn-mill systems to improve productivity, consistency, and safe operation.
- Operate horizontal machining centers with pallet pool systems for efficient production flow.
- Complete tooling setup, offsets, fixture alignment, and related machine adjustments.
- Monitor machining performance and adjust processes to support quality, cycle time, and efficiency.
- Set clear expectations for safety, 5S, schedule compliance, output, and resource use.
- Coach team members on standard work, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement practices.
