Job summary

Chandler Industries seeks an experienced Operations Manager – Machining to lead the day-to-day CNC machining operation and develop supervisors and machinists. You will drive performance, implement new technologies, and lead cross-functional projects to improve capacity, quality, and efficiency.

The role emphasizes strong people leadership, project management, and deep machining knowledge, with a focus on lean methods, ISO/AS9100 familiarity, and achieving on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in machining operations, with 3-5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong technical knowledge of CNC machining.
• Familiarity with ISO or AS9100 standards.
• Lean manufacturing methodologies; Six Sigma is a plus.
• Proven project management experience on cross-functional projects.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team development.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop people; coach, mentor, and build a culture of accountability.
• Build a high-performing team by recruiting, onboarding, and developing talent.
• Lead key manufacturing projects including NPI, upgrades, and new technologies.
• Coordinate cross-functional execution with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Materials.
• Provide machining leadership and technical direction for CNC operations.
• Advance machining capabilities through new equipment and processes.
• Drive performance metrics: schedule adherence, productivity, and quality.
• Champion continuous improvement via Lean, 5S, and standard work.
• Support successful NPI and transition of new products to production.
• Manage labor, capacity, and budgets while identifying cost-reduction opportunities.
