Job summary

Cadence Inc. in DeLand, FL is seeking a CNC Machine Set-Up Operator III – Group Lead to coordinate daily machining and tooling activities, perform CNC setup and operation, and provide technical guidance to the team.

The role requires advanced CAD/CAM programming with SolidWorks, tooling selection, troubleshooting, and ensuring quality, safety, GMP expectations; prior supervisory coordination experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC setup and operation experience.
  • Advanced CNC setup, tooling, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM programming and SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, blueprints, GD&T, and inspection methods.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate work without direct supervisory authority.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily workflow in the machining/tooling area.
  • Perform CNC setup and operation on production machines.
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks).
  • Select tooling, fixtures, offsets, and machine settings.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and equipment issues.
  • Inspect parts and ensure quality and specifications.
  • Verify travelers, work orders, and production docs for accuracy.
  • Provide hands-on training and support to team members.
  • Monitor production, quality, and workflow; escalate issues as needed.
  • Adhere to safety, GMP, GDP, and standard work requirements.

Job Title: CNC Machine Set-Up Operator III – Group Lead
Location: DeLand, FL
Reports To: Operations Manager

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a 1-hour unpaid meal break.

  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required.

Position Summary
Hands‑on working lead responsible for coordinating daily activities in the machining and tooling area while performing CNC setup, operation, and programming in a MIM environment. Provides technical guidance, supports production flow, and serves as an escalation point for machining, tooling, quality, and equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily workflow, priorities, and task assignments within the machining/tooling area.

  • Perform setup and operation of CNC and other production machines.

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, including SolidWorks.

  • Select and adjust tooling, fixtures, offsets, and machine settings.

  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and equipment issues.

  • Inspect parts and make adjustments to maintain quality and specifications.

  • Verify job travelers, work orders, and production documentation for accuracy and compliance.

  • Provide hands‑on training, guidance, and support to team members.

  • Promote adherence to safety, GMP, GDP, and standard work requirements.
