Job summary

Perryman Company in Kentucky seeks a CNC Machine Operator to set up and operate conventional, NC machines to fabricate medical implants, inserts, trials and instruments.

You will study blueprints, select tools, verify tolerances, perform deburring and inspection, and coordinate with engineers; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work 8–12 hour rotating shifts. Equal opportunity employer with training available.

Qualifications

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapers.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Deburrs and cleans final part.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as basic blueprints and/or operation sheets.
  • Basic shop math skills to include the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and stand for 8 - 12 hours a day.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and setup requirements.
  • Select and secure holding fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
  • Start and monitor machine operation; adjust controls as needed.
  • Verify finished workpiece against specs.
  • Deburr and clean parts.
  • Coordinate with engineers and production staff to resolve issues.
  • Read basic documents and operation sheets; perform basic shop math.
  • Operate within lifting and stamina requirements; maintain 8–12 hour shift rotations.

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts such as medical implants, inserts, trials and instruments.

General job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
