Job summary

Jetstream of Houston, a Federal Signal subsidiary, seeks a skilled machinist to review work orders, set up equipment and run production cycles to meet specified tolerances. You will read blueprints, perform first piece inspections, deburr parts, and document quality data while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Responsibilities include planning machine set ups, operating various machines, cross-checking tolerances, and performing preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate in Machining Technologies or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret Blueprints/Technical Drawings.
• Ability to perform various machining operations in accordance with part specifications.

• Perform preventative maintenance and ensure machines operate optimally.
• Communicate with managers and shop personnel to resolve quality issues.
• Train co-workers as requested.

• Deburr parts as needed

• Perform first piece inspections and make necessary adjustment to machine to ensure parts are formed to designated tolerances
• Complete inspection reports as required and repair any defects found and document critical quality information as necessary
• Perform preventative maintenance and ensure machines are operating optimally
• Communicate with managers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve quality issues
• Act as subject matter expert and train co-workers as requested
• Document outstanding issues either written or verbally to ensure smooth transition between shift
• Cross train in other areas of Operations (assembly, shipping and receiving). Develop proficiency in multiple areas in order to assist in other area as business need change
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area complying with all 5S initiatives and advise
• Follow and comply with all safety and personal protective equipment requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Certificate in Machining Technologies or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, required
• Ability to read and interpret Blueprints/Technical Drawings
• Ability to perform various machining operation in accordance with part specifications

Pay Transparency

Anticipated hourly wage: $20/hour - 21/hour depending on level of previous experience.
