Job summary

Waltonen Engineering, Inc. seeks a CNC Lead to guide the CNC Department and mentor machinists in Troy, MI. You will set up, program, and operate mills and CAM systems, plan tooling and workflows from blueprints, and ensure safe, efficient production across shifts.

You'll review 3D CAD designs, convert instructions into CAM programs, and optimize routines for 5-axis machines with Fanuc/Fadal controllers. Collaboration and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a CNC environment.
• 2+ years of experience programming in WorkNC.
• Experience with CNC machining and programming.
• Experience running a 5-axis machine.
• Familiarity with Fanuc or Fadal controllers.
• Ability to prioritize tasks & delegate them when appropriate.

Independence Tooling is actively seeking a CNC Lead to join our team!

Responsibilities

• Serve as Lead in the CNC Department
• Mentor, Lead and Supervise other machinists
• Produce machined parts by setting up, and operating a mill and/or computer numerical control (CNC) machine
• Plan machining by studying work orders and blueprints
• Set up mills by tramming/indicating vices and/or work material
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
• Develop instructions for CNC Technicians
• Review 3D CAD design
• Determine steps for programming including where materials should be cut
• Convert instructions into a computer-automated manufacturing (CAM) program
• Determine job order and perform associated calculations
• Compose programs and revise existing ones for increased efficiency

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a CNC environment
• 2+ years of experience programming in WorkNC
• Experience with CNC machining and programming
• Experience running a 5-axis machine
• Familiarity with Fanuc or Fadal controllers
• Ability to prioritize tasks & delegate them when appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or defense is a plus
• Experience running a 3+2 axis machineExperience running a Haas, Doosan, or Hermle
