Job summary

acemetal is seeking an energetic CNC Lathe setup and operator to join our Midwest sheet metal fabrication and machining team in Illinois. You will perform setups, select tooling, and run lathe operations to meet exact tolerances while reading blueprints and GD&T.

You will use G-Code and Mazatrol when applicable, ensure part quality with micrometers and calipers, and actively troubleshoot process issues to maintain efficiency and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of CNC Lathe setup and operation experience.
• Proficient with G-Code; Mazatrol is a plus.
• Ability to set up and complete parts with proper workholding.
• Ability to calculate speeds and feeds for varying materials.
• Must hold tight tolerances ±0.0005 and inspect with micrometers/calipers.
• Read and interpret blueprints; follow routings and GD&T.
• Attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
• Safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily machining using blueprints, specifications and tolerances.
• Select tooling and setups to complete parts.
• Monitor drilling and cutting; adjust controls as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues by measuring and comparing to specs.
• Adapt to new challenges and collaborate with the team.

We are seeking an energetic and talented individual who has the following:

• 4 years minimum experience as a CNC Lathe setup and operator. (G-Code, Mazatrol is a plus)
• Knowledge of tooling and different applications to apply.
• Ability to do setups required to complete the part, including work holding.
• Ability to calculate speeds and feeds for a variety of materials.
• Must be able to hold tight tolerances. (+/- .0005)
• Proficient at using inspection equipment. (Micrometers, Calipers, etc.)
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Use blueprints, specifications, job routings, geometric dimensions, and tolerances to plan daily machining.
• Great attention to detail with a goal‑driven attitude.
• Ability to detect and trouble shoot problems by taking measurements, adjusting controls, closely monitoring drilling, and cutting.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
• This is a safety sensitive position.
