Job summary

Zaniboni Lighting Co. is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to set up jobs on Okuma CNC Lathes, including sub-spindle and live tooling.

You must be able to set up machines independently to produce high-quality aluminum parts and run overnight lights-out shifts. The role offers a 4-day workweek and a negotiable hourly rate based on skill and experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on CNC lathe setup and operation experience.
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Install and align workholding fixtures, chucks, collets, and cutting tools.
• Program Management: Load, verify, and edit G-code or control programs at the machine.
• Offsets & Adjustments: Set tool registers, establish work coordinates, and adjust feeds and speeds.
• Quality Inspection: Perform first-article inspections using micrometers and calipers.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, or dimensional issues during production runs.

Job description

We are hiring a skilled and experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to set up jobs on Okuma CNC Lathes. The Okuma Lathes are set up with sub-spindle and live tooling.

You must be able to set up machines independently to produce high-quality parts out of aluminum and able to set up the machines to run overnight jobs (lights-out).

Schedule: 4-day week, Monday to Thursday 6am to 6:30pm - with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch.

Rate: $28-32 per hour (negotiable based on skillset and experience)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Install and align workholding fixtures, chucks, collets, and cutting tools.

• Program Management: Load, verify, and edit G-code or control programs at the machine.

• Offsets & Adjustments: Set tool registers, establish work coordinates, and adjust feeds and speeds.

• Quality Inspection: Perform first-article inspections using precision instruments like micrometers and calipers.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, or dimensional issues during production runs.

Qualifications and Experience

• CNC Machining Technologies certificate or equivalent is preferred.
• 3+ years of hands-on CNC lathe setup and operation experience.
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerances(GD&T).
• Strong working knowledge of Okuma Lathe controls.
  

Physical Demands

Must have ability to select, lift, carry and stack products weighing between 30 & 50 pounds. The ability to stand up a total of 10-12 hours, with breaks, while occasionally bending, stooping, twisting and do repetitive work for 2 to 4 hours at a time.

Stations have anti-fatigue mats and stools available when needed.
