Job summary

Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for a 3x12 rotating shift (Fri–Sun, 5:30pm–6:00am). You will machine large generator rotor shafts up to 46 feet long and 275 tons, performing setups, alignments, and precision inspections.

Prior CNC lathe, steady rest, and multi-control experience are required for a hands-on role that supports global customers. Join a team focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the Gas Services unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years CNC lathe experience preferred; 2-year machinist degree acceptable.
• Experience with Siemens/Fanuc/Mazak controls and measuring tools.
• Ability to read complex drawings and interpret G/M codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform setups and machine large generator rotor shafts on CNC lathes.
• Align and position workpieces using steady rests and fixtures.
• Interpret drawings and QC documents to ensure accuracy.
• Inspect work using precision measuring instruments during machining.
• Participate in Lean 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor apprentices in Siemens Energy programs.
