Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a skilled CNC Horizontal Lathe Machinist to manufacture generator rotor shafts up to 46 feet long and 275 tons. You will set up and operate large-scale CNC lathes, align rotor forgings, read engineering drawings, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

You will perform precision inspections with micrometers and gauges, collaborate with crane operators and production teams, and contribute to Lean initiatives and continuous improvement through 5S and best practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CNC-focused training preferred.
• 4+ years of CNC lathe machining experience, large-part and steady rest experience preferred.
• Proficient with CNC controls (Siemens, Fanuc, Mazak) and G-code/M-code fundamentals.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Strong blueprint/engineering drawing interpretation skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Set up, align, and operate large-scale CNC horizontal lathes for generator rotor shafts up to 275 tons.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CNC programs, and quality docs to meet exact specs.
• Perform precision inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
• Collaborate with crane operators and production teams to safely load and machine forgings.
• Support Lean manufacturing and 5S, drive process improvements and quality initiatives.
• Mentor apprentices and teammates, document production records, and share best practices.
