Job summary

DRT Aerospace in Sidney, OH is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to produce precision aerospace and defense components using CNC and manual lathes to tight tolerances. You will read complex drawings, select tooling, and perform inspections to ensure quality.

This is a full-time role with day and night shifts and competitive pay with overtime, benefit eligibility from day one, and 401(k) with company match.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years of CNC lathe machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes independently.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and inspection techniques.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
• Manual lathe experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes to manufacture precision aerospace components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, process sheets, and work instructions.
• Select tooling, inserts, fixtures, and machining parameters.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Make offsets and minor program adjustments to maintain quality requirements.
• Machine components to close tolerances and customer specifications.
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, indicators, and thread gages.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Complete production, quality, and traceability documentation.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S activities

What You’ll Do

Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes to manufacture precision aerospace components

Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, process sheets, and work instructions

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Aerospace, defense, medical, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments

Tight-tolerance machining

Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace alloys

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Frequently lift and move materials up to 35 pounds

Frequent use of hands for machine operation, inspections, and tooling changes

Ability to work around machining equipment, cutting fluids, metal chips, and manufacturing noise while wearing required PPE
