As a CNC Machinist, you are responsible for set up of machines and machining of complex parts, which includes the set-up of tooling and fixtures on machines using engineering set up drawings. You will also establish origins of machine to fixture and inspect and verify parts for tolerance.
Shift Time for this position are 5:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday - Thursday
Job Summary
Set up machines and machining of complex parts with close tolerances. Requires the ability to machine parts using CNC Lathe and/or CNC Mill with little or no supervision.
Essential Job Functions
• Read and interpret drawings/blueprints and setup sheets.
• Set-up tooling and fixtures on CNC Lathe equipment using Mastercam set-up documents.
• Establish origins of machine to fixture and machining of first part to blueprint requirements.
• Perform and record first piece inspection and fill out in-process inspection sheets.
• Make Adjustments / Edits• Run production parts after first part approval per engineering drawings.
• Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
• Perform in-process inspection and benching of part during machine cycle.
• Sustain production standards and optimize production for maximum output while maintaining quality and blueprint requirements.
• Monitor operations and quickly react to non-conformances as they occur.
• Operators will run more than one machine simultaneously.
• Identify and support continuous improvement efforts of production processes.
• Make accurate and detailed transactions of work done in ERP software.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures described in Employment Handbook.
• Perform daily and regular cleaning and light machine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
• Perform regular department housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Compliance with safety standards and guidelines
• Other Duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
• Must be able to set up and operate CNC twin spindle lathe machine with live tooling.
• Working knowledge of CNC machine code and ability to change off sets.
• Have a strong knowledge of lathe tooling concepts.
• Requires knowledge of operations including cutting, drilling, boring, milling, turning, tapping, etc.,
• Application of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics.
• Experience in utilizing all the standard inspection tools.
• Must be able to check parts for conformance to specifications.
• Requires the ability to follow written instructions, read blueprints, understand GD&T according toASME Y14, and work to other common industry specifications.
• Must work well with others in a team environment.
• Organized Punctual and Reliable.
• Possess excellent attention to detail.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, and handle objects. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull and reach above shoulder level. The employee must be able to carry/lift up to 50 pounds and be able to rotate item being handled.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to carry out complex, repetitive tasks quickly and methodically.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be willing to submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment (i.e. drug screen, background check, eye exam, hearing exam, etc.) and any subsequent testing required for the position during employment.
