Job summary

You will work with senior operators to sort parts, take basic measurements, and help ensure smooth production flow while strictly following safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills and willingness to learn CNC equipment.
  • Experience with Office 365 and Fourth Shift is a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing understanding preferred.
  • English communication skills; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with material handling, staging sheets, and unloading cut parts from the machine.
  • Remove tabs and micro-joints, and perform basic part cleanup, including deburring and organizing parts according to job travelers.
  • Learn basic machine operation principles, including laser safety zones and proper PPE usage.
  • Support senior operators by cleaning slats, emptying scrap bins, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Assist in verifying material type and thickness against the job traveler using tape measures and calipers.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain correct flow of production materials.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.

Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated CNC Laser Operator Associate to join our Sheet Metal Department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide foundational support in the fabrication shop while learning the principles of CNC laser operation. The ideal candidate will focus on material handling, manual part cleanup, and staging sheets while maintaining strict adherence to machine safety protocols. You will work closely with senior operators to sort parts, perform basic quality measurements, and ensure an efficient production flow in a fast-paced shop environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with material handling, staging sheets, and unloading cut parts from the machine.
  • Remove tabs and micro-joints, and perform basic part cleanup, including deburring and organizing parts according to job travelers.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, adapt to a constantly changing environment, and maintain positive teamwork relationships.
  • Maintain an excellent safety record.
Work Environment & Shift Details
  • Shift: 6:30 am - 4:30 pm (Day shift) or 4:30 pm - 3:00 am (Night shift).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs using proper safety techniques, and perform reaching, stretching, bending, and walking during the daily routine.
  • Conditions: Requires working in a shop environment that involves consistent physical activity, repetitive tasks, and maintaining a safe, clean work area based on production needs.
