Job summary

Union Special, LLC is seeking a skilled CNC Operator in Illinois to set up and run precision machining operations for sewing machine components. You will follow drawings, blueprints, and specifications, adjusting tool speeds and feeds as needed, while maintaining tight tolerances with precision gauges.

The role requires capability to lift up to 50 lbs, read and interpret instructions, and work on complex projects with limited guidance, under a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with set-up and programming on Hitachi Seiki Horiz machines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work on complex projects with minimal guidance.
• Adherence to safety requirements and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run new jobs according to specifications and blueprints.
• Read drawings and calculate tooling speeds and feeds.
• Edit program settings for feeds and speeds when necessary.
• Adjust tool travel distance as required.
• Use precision measuring instruments to maintain dimensional tolerances.
• Monitor machine operations and ensure accuracy of parts.
• Rework and calibrate parts and tooling as needed; replace dull tools.

This role is essential to ensuring precision and efficiency in the production of components for our sewing machines.

Job Responsibilities

• Set-up and run new jobs.
• Works from and in accordance with specifications and design criteria including but not limited to verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints; performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, speeds, and feeds of machining.
• Edit program setting as related to tool feeds and speeds when necessary
• Adjust tool travel distance
• Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments; maintains accurate dimensional tolerances based upon drawings.
• Monitor machine operations
• Reworks and calibrates production parts or assemblies and machine tooling as required; checks each component for accuracy.
• Replace dull tools as necessary
• Set and sharpen tools as necessary

Skill Requirements

• Experienced with set-up and program Hitachi Seiki Horiz Machine
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to set auxiliary machines (hand mills, Milwaukee Vertical and 6 to 8 spindle drill presses)
• Experience with various types of gauging
• Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
• Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
