Job summary

Morris Group, Inc. is seeking a CNC Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain CNC machine tools at customer sites across the Southeast. You will use electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to diagnose issues and perform preventative maintenance.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years of hands-on repair experience, read drawings, and communicate effectively. Travel is frequent, including weekends, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical/electrical repair of CNC machine tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Must meet the physical requirements and be able to travel regionally.
  • Flexibility for overtime and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain CNC machine tool equipment.
  • Research machine issues using manuals and vendor resources.
  • Document status of issues and repairs for office and customers.
  • Promote preventative maintenance and provide after-sales technical support and training.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Job Responsibilities:

The CNC Field Service Technician will have an extensive understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to effectively detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all CNC machine tool equipment and controls for customer organizations

  • Utilizing machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues

  • Ensuring proper documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer in regards to status of machine issues, repairs, and installation

  • Promoting and performing preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment and conducting after-sales technical support and training

  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company

Job Competencies/Qualifications:
  • MUST have 5+ years of experience with mechanical/electrical repair of CNC machine tools

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other business programs as necessary

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics

  • Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job. This position requires flexible hours, including overtime and occasionally working weekends.

  • Frequent travel, including driving throughout a regional territory is necessary.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises.

  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.

  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.

  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.

  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.

  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
