Job summary

The CNC Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC machine tools at customer facilities nationwide, reporting to the CNC Field Service Manager. This role requires extensive travel and hands-on expertise.

Responsibilities include installation, leveling, geometry checks, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control-system issues, remote support, customer training, and thorough service documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years in CNC machine tool maintenance and service (electrical and mechanical).
• 5+ years providing remote technical support within the machine tool industry.
• Experience installing and servicing machining centers, including leveling and geometric alignment.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience with CNC control systems, including FANUC controls.
• Willingness to travel extensively (100% weekdays) and work independently.

• Perform machine leveling, geometry checks, and final adjustments for peak performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and application issues.
• Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions including repair or replacement.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support via phone, email, and other channels.
• Support customers, distributors, and internal teams with technical guidance and problem resolution.
• Provide customer training and assist with project coordination as needed.
• Provide service support at trade shows and company events when required.
• Maintain detailed service documentation and reporting.
• Travel extensively (100%) including overnights and occasional weekend travel.

This role is essential to ensuring optimal machine performance and delivering an outstanding customer experience, and reports to the CNC Field Service Manager.

What you'll do

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field - or equivalent hands-on experience
• 5+ years of experience in CNC machine tool maintenance and service (electrical and mechanical)
• 5+ years of experience providing remote technical support within the machine tool industry
• Proven experience installing and servicing machining centers, including leveling and geometric alignment
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting
• Experience with CNC control systems, including FANUC controls
• Solid understanding of power circuits and industrial electrical systems
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to travel extensively (100% during weekdays) and work independently in the field
