Job summary

Protolabs CNC Estimating & Tool Pathing / Digital Manufacturing Designer analyzes customer CAD models with proprietary software and creates digital manufacturing files. You will generate quotes and toolpaths, perform QC checks, and resolve auto-quoting issues across our processes.

The role requires independent work, strong communication, and careful attention to detail in a fast-paced team setting; shift flexibility is offered with overnight weekend support.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software packages.
• Ability to learn advanced proprietary graphical software.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow printed and computer-screen instructions.

Responsibilities

• Create and send quotes/toolpaths using proprietary software and CAD models.
• Create Quality Control checks for manufacturing usage.
• Resolve issues that prevent auto-quoting using internal software.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of processes to respond to inquiries within quotes.
• Collaborate with internal resources to answer questions about our process and CNC.
• Provide assistance to machine operators.
• Assist in troubleshooting parts and part creation.
• Evaluate for best practices and improvement opportunities for self, team, and company.
• Comply with all quality and safety standards.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
