Job summary

Acushnet Company is seeking a CNC/CAM Project Engineer to design and prototype golf components using NX CAD/CAM and 5-axis CNC machining. You will develop fixtures, optimize designs for manufacturability, and support R&D from concept through prototype validation.

You will collaborate with engineers to transfer prototypes to production, maintaining CNC shop operations and contributing to innovative solutions for next-generation products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years CAD/CAM programming experience, preferably NX or similar.
  • 3+ years CNC machining experience (mills/lathes).
  • 3+ years welding experience supporting prototype fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design the future of golf innovation by creating prototype heads and fixtures.
  • Use NX CAD/CAM and 5-axis machining to design, program, and manufacture prototypes.
  • Collaborate with R&D to optimize designs for manufacturability and fixture solutions.

In this hands-on engineering role, you will leverage NX CAD modeling and advanced 5-axis CNC machining to design, program, and manufacture prototype club heads, components, and precision fixtures that support R&D and innovation initiatives. Working closely with engineers throughout the development process, you will optimize designs for manufacturability, develop machining strategies, determine cutting parameters for a variety of metal alloys, and apply expertise in welding, adhesives, castings, coatings, composites, and joint design to solve complex engineering challenges. You will also help bridge prototype development to large-scale manufacturing by providing design recommendations, creating fixturing solutions, maintaining CNC shop operations, and contributing to patentable innovations that advance product performance and technology.What You BringBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required; equivalent professional experience in CNC/CAM engineering, machining, and prototype development may be considered in lieu of a degree.3+ years of CAD/CAM programming experience, preferably using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) or comparable software such as SDRC or Delcam.3+ years of CNC machining experience, including operation of CNC mills, lathes, and manual mills and lathes.3+ years of welding experience, with the ability to support prototype development and fabrication projects.Application Requirement: To be considered for this role, candidates must include a cover letter and portfolio samples showcasing completed CNC/CAM and prototype machining work.
