Job summary

Mazak Corporation's Western Applications department is seeking an Applications Engineer to support Sales with technical information on Mazak machine tools. The role involves customer support, part processing recommendations, and costs analysis to optimize part manufacturing.

Travel about 15% is required; in-person collaboration at Technology Centers, and training at customer sites. Strong communication and CAD/CAM tooling skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or certification in a related technical field plus two years of experience in a machine tool related field, or three to five years' experience in a related position is required.
• Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
• Provide telephone / e-mail customer support on the operation and use of Mazak Products.
• Provide part processing / Machine recommendations to best produce customer parts as the stated part volumes.
• Calculate time study estimates of machine cycle time.
• Calculate a cost to manufacture customer parts including labor, and tooling/ work holding costs.
• Conceptually design work holding and tooling as needed to support the manufacture of customer parts.
• Demonstrate machine operation and machine features at trade shows and open house events.
• Safely rig and install machines in Technology Centers and at trade show events. Provide customer training on safe machine operation and detailed machine functions at the customer facility.
• Perform test cuts to demonstrate machine capability / prove processing concepts.
• Perform full- turn key process development and testing including statistical analysis of part measurement.
• Approximately 15% of travel is required.
