Job description

Advanced Technology | Training | Learning & Innovation

At Ellison Technologies, we don’t just support manufacturing—we help shape its future. For over 70 years, we’ve partnered with North American metal-cutting manufacturers to deliver advanced machining solutions that drive performance, precision, and global competitiveness.

With a strong local presence and a customer-first mindset, our teams have the flexibility to respond quickly and strategically to evolving industry needs. From standalone machines to fully integrated robotic manufacturing systems, our mission is clear: maximize throughput, elevate quality, and reduce per-part cost for every customer we serve.

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a technical role—it’s an opportunity to become a trusted advisor and educator. You’ll work directly with customers to enhance their manufacturing capabilities while sharing your expertise through training, consultation, and hands‑on support. You’ll also work on in‑office engineering projects and turn‑key systems; strong CAM skills are very desirable. If you’re passionate about innovation, problem‑solving, and helping others succeed, this role offers a highly rewarding path.

What You’ll Do
  • Deliver on‑site and customer‑facing training and consultative support (primary focus of the role)
  • Partner with the sales team throughout the solution development and sales process
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Develop process cycle time estimates and optimize manufacturing efficiency
  • Assist with fixture and tooling design
  • Support execution of turnkey system projects, including documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, customer interactions, and project updates
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Prepare reports for management and project stakeholders
  • Track and document customer issues and support requests
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with parts, service, solutions engineering team, and sales teams
  • Contribute to a culture focused on exceeding customer expectations

We expect this role to necessitate approximately 25% - 40% overnight travel within Carolinas depending on exactly where the candidate is located in relation to the majority of our customers. We don’t expect this to be a “Road Warrior” type of position and that you'll launch from and return home most days.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a CNC machining enthusiast who thrives on learning, innovating, and helping customers improve how they manufacture their products.

Key Qualifications:
  • Ability to train, mentor and guide others
  • Strong understanding of process cycle times and machining capabilities
  • Proficiency with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or similar
  • Strong experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, GibbsCAM, ESPRIT, or equivalent
  • Hands‑on expertise in milling and/or turning; ideally experience with 5‑axis milling and or milturns - or the desire and ability to learn these skill sets

Our Mission: Equip manufacturers to compete and win, both locally and globally!

“The Ellison Way principles continue to drive our company forward. The Ellison Way principle of Adaptation will ensure that Ellison will evolve to further grow market share, strengthen our relationships with our key partners and our customers. The major focus moving forward must be on the development of Ellison’s most valuable resource – its people.”
