Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Corona, CA is seeking a CNC 5 Axis Machinist to support first‑shift production operations. You will prepare tooling, set up CNC machines, and manufacture high‑precision components in a fast‑paced environment.

The role requires experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i‑B5 controls, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with programmers and management to optimize throughput while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating CNC equipment as determined by Karman.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i-B5 controls.
• Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters.
• Ability to communicate directly with internal customers.
• Training in applicable changes and customer requirements.
• Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and process adherence.

Responsibilities

• Implements AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement.
• Maintains clean, organized work areas and performs general upkeep of CNC machines.
• Cleans, inspects, and properly stores fixtures and tooling.
• Coordinates machine prioritization with management to support production needs.
• Collaborates with programmers to streamline setups and reduce manufacturing time.
• Requests cutters, tooling, and related resources to support machining operations.
• Operates CNC machines to produce high‑precision components.
• Reports quality or workflow concerns and recommends improvements to management.
• Evaluates potential impacts of product failures on customer requirements.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
