Qualifications

• Three years of patient care experience, OR
• CNA certificate with two years of patient care experience
• Completion of a registered or practical nursing program with one year of patient care
• Note: CNA certificate required for facilities with Medicaid/Medicare funds

Responsibilities

• Supervises lower-level paraprofessional healthcare staff on a ward during a shift
• Gives a report at shift changes
• Performs routine nursing duties such as vital signs and treatments
• Maintains safe, sanitary environments and assists with cleaning and equipment
• Documents patient behavior or incidents and reports to supervisor
• Assists in patient management using therapeutic techniques and restrains when needed
• Makes rounds to check patient presence and safety compliance

Education

Certified Nursing Assistant certificate

Emergency Medical Technician program

Registered or Practical Nursing program completion
