Job summary

Heartland Community College invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Nursing Faculty position in the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. The 9‑month role begins Spring 2027 and may include an option to serve as CNA Program Coordinator pending IDPH eligibility.

Primary duties include teaching, mentoring students, curriculum development, and program review across Health Sciences. Requirements include current IL RN licensure and at least two years of nursing experience, including

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN licensure.
• Two years of nursing experience with at least one year in teaching, care, or long‑term care settings.
• ADN or diploma nurses must complete an IDPH‑approved Train the Trainer program (4 hours/CEU).
• BSN holders may be exempt from Train the Trainer with documentation of approved training.
• Eligibility to be approved as a Program Coordinator by the IDPH.
• Two years of teaching and/or curriculum development experience in a nursing assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses and manage class preparation, grading, and office hours.
• Contribute to curriculum development and articulation of courses within the division.
• Develop and evaluate student learning outcomes per Heartland assessment protocols.
• Stay current in the nursing discipline and support student persistence and success.
• Participate in program review and service activities as needed.
• Potentially teach additional courses within other Health Sciences disciplines.
