Job summary

UnityPoint Health – St. Luke's in Sioux City is seeking a CNA/Patient Care Tech for the 8SW Neuro-Ortho unit.

This full-time role (36 hours/week) requires night shifts from 7pm to 7am with rotating weekends and holidays and provides direct patient support under licensed staff supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, safe ambulation, accurate documentation, and timely communication of observations to the care team.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in high school or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Prior hospital or nursing home experience as a Patient Care Tech or completion of related training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with ADL's according to hospital procedures and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Assists with ambulation and uses assist devices to protect patient and staff.
• Restocks rooms and maintains a safe, clean environment.
• Attends appropriate training programs, unit meetings and other mandatory meetings.
• Seeks involvement in unit improvements, quality projects, and other enhancements to patient care.
• Demonstrates UnityPoint Health values and adheres to policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
• Maintains regular, reliable attendance.

CNA or Patient Care Tech - 8SW Neuro-Ortho Downtown

UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's - Sioux City

Hours: Full Time, 36 hours per week, 12 hour shifts

Schedule: Nights 7pm-7am, rotating weekends and holidays

Provides direct, hands‑on patient support across nursing units under the supervision of licensed staff. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, promoting safe ambulation and transport using appropriate equipment, accurately documenting care and treatments, monitoring patient safety and condition, and promptly communicating observations and changes to the care team.

Qualifications

Education:

Must be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent program.

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

Previous hospital or nursing home experience as a Patient Care Tech and/or completion of training in nursing school that covers Patient Care Tech type duties and/or Must attend UPHSL Patient Care Tech training.

Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required.

Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
