Job summary

Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking a compassionate Overnight Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to care for residents through the night, keeping them safe, comfortable, and dignified.

Work alongside nurses to provide hands-on care, monitor health, perform transfers, document in the electronic medical record, and help maintain a quiet, respectful overnight environment. Full-time and part-time shifts available with weekend options and shift differentials.

Qualifications

  • Active Maine CNA Registry certification in good standing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Commitment to resident confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, including toileting, repositioning, grooming, and other resident needs.
  • Assist residents with safe transfers, repositioning, and mobility.
  • Make rounds and monitor residents for safety and comfort.
  • Respond promptly to resident needs and call lights.
  • Observe residents and report changes in condition to the nursing team.
  • Support restful nighttime routines with respect for privacy and dignity.
  • Assist with incontinence care and other overnight needs.
  • Document care and observations in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

At Maine Veterans' Homes, our mission is Caring for Those Who Served. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the overnight shift, you'll play an important role in keeping our residents safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the night.

What You'll Do as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Working alongside nurses and other members of the care team, you'll provide hands-on care and monitor the well-being of residents throughout the overnight hours.


Your responsibilities will include:



  • Providing personal care, including toileting, repositioning, grooming, and other resident needs

  • Assisting residents with safe transfers, repositioning, and mobility

  • Making regular rounds and monitoring residents for safety and comfort

  • Responding promptly to resident needs and call lights

  • Observing residents and reporting changes in condition to the nursing team

  • Supporting restful nighttime routines while respecting each resident's preferences and dignity

  • Assisting with incontinence care and other overnight needs

  • Documenting care and observations accurately in the electronic medical record

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment

  • Following infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards

  • Working collaboratively with the overnight nursing team

Your Overnight Schedule

11:00 PM–7:00 AM


  • Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available

  • Most schedules include every other weekend

  • Night shift differential may apply
